Automotive Industry
Project description:
At Elmgrove Technologies, we are leading the way in electromechanical assembly for handheld diagnostic systems used in various automotive applications. In the project highlighted here, we partnered with a manufacturer of high-performance aftermarket tuning/diagnostics products.
They had recently developed a cutting edge diagnostic tool that enables users to reprogram a car’s flash system and provide DTC support through the ODBII connector located inside the vehicle.
The initial box build consisted of a total of 100 finished units that needed to be produced within a 20-day time frame. Our success as a manufacturer is based on customer service and flexibility. This allowed us to easily accommodate this customer’s scheduling requirement. Assembly began with type FR-4 bare boards and required a combination of hand and automated processes for the through hole and surface mount technology needed for each PCB. We installed the displays and cables, then mounted each board to an electronic enclosure, all built with tolerances as tight as ± 0.015”. Once this process was finished, we conducted all of the necessary programming.
When completed, the units were ready to be shipped directly to users in the field, providing an out-of-the-box experience. We employed our advanced process control and quality assurance methodologies, backed by industry fabrication standards such as IPC-A-600 and IPC-A-620. All units were then assembled to J-STD-001 standards and underwent an IPC-A-610 Class II inspection.
The customer was pleased with our work, dependability, and our commitment to delivering a reliable, low-cost solution for their production needs. Our superior customer service and dedication to quality resulted in a long term relationship that has included many repeat orders.
